Ukraine, ASEAN Explore Stronger Cooperation
The talks, which took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, focused on strengthening cooperation, expanding dialogue, and increasing practical engagement in key areas such as food security, energy, and digital technologies, according to reports. Sybiha shared details via social media platform X.
“ASEAN is an important partner of Ukraine in today’s international architecture. Ukraine reiterates its intention to become an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner,” he said.
He also extended an invitation to the ASEAN Secretary-General to visit Ukraine.
“Both sides discussed ways to promote cooperation between ASEAN and Ukraine, among others,” the bloc noted in a separate statement posted online after the meeting.
Ukraine has previously signed the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, a foundational ASEAN document, in November 2022. Recent reports indicate that Kyiv is aiming to formalize its status as an official dialogue partner of ASEAN by the end of this year.
